It is the single largest disaster to hit Middle Tennessee since the Civil War. If you live outside of Nashville, you may not be aware, that the National News service only gave this enormous disaster only fifteen minutes of coverage. One main reason Nashville was being ignored was because they weren't drawing attention to themselves. They were too busy helping each other and handling things on their own. It is quite bizarre, that no one seems to be aware, that the folks of Tennessee just what is quite probably the costliest non-hurricane disaster in American history. There were billions of dollars in losses and several dead.
Folks actually died in standstill traffic, on the Interstate, while sitting in their cars. Boats were going down The West End. You could see a huge portable building from Lighthouse Christian actually floating into automobile traffic.
You didn't hear anything about looting! You didn't hear about crowds committing outrageous crimes! None of that! The folks of Nashville, just say, "Life will go on." They will go back to work, to school, and their lives and they will carry on. They are Nashville! They are Tennessee! They are American! To see the video click this link:

It's a shame! As I was searching for a picture to attach to this post I typed in "Nashville Flood". The first three pictures were of the flood, then all you saw were Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, and a bunch of other ENTERTAINMENT folks. Hello! If I wanted to see them, I'd of typed in Country Music. So then, I decided to type in "Nashville flood victims". Guess what? I mean, you'd think the first picture would be of this poor family struggling to gather their floating belongings, right? Nope Taylor Swift got first picture! Jake White got second and Chesney came in a distant third. Is that how screwed up this country has gotten? Thousands of victims in this flood and the spotlight goes to Taylor Swift! Who cares! Oh, and don't give me the baloney about, but she donated to their cause. Yeah, and it's a drop in the bucket for her and evidenced by the Internet, she'll make ten times over that on FREE publicity. Give me a break. Some things just get my goat. John L Sulak
I live just outside Nashville and we received no damage at all. We have been working with the relief effort in Nashville. One other thing the National Media failed to report was that the entire Titan football team along with all coaches, including Jeff Fisher have spent several days working along side people trying to clean up the mess. They had Fisher on the evening news and he looked more like one of the victims than part of the relief crew.. Unshaven and mud from head to foot. Your right, were Nashville and we will recover. Off the subject but I happen to have my roots in East exas - Jacksonville. Yes a bred and born Texan.
ReplyDeleteWayne - glad you avoided it. Always do a guy good to hear there are still a bunch of good folks left around. It used to be that way pretty much everywhere, befor "political correctness" took over.
ReplyDeleteI live about 20 minutes north of Jacksonville. Been there several times. Great Tomater Festival. I always like Tennessee. Been to Nashvill and Memphis a few times.
