If someone cut your pay dramatically, unless you "played ball" would you cheat? What if you could not pay your bills? What if your kiddos could not eat? What if you might have to contemplate homelessness? What if you were not as strong in your patriotism as you thought? Regretfully, most folks would bend, if not break, under this kind of pressure.
Here is what the "despicable" Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan had to say, "some states and some districts that in these tough economic times are being very creative and doing some really innovative things, others are paralyzed..." Did you read the hints? "Very creative", any dummy knows what he means by that! He means for them to CHEAT! How about "innovative things"? He sounds like a member of the Sopranos talking to a business owner about protection!
And of course, Obama himself threw down the ultimatum, "... if you can't decide to change these practices, we're not going to use precious dollars that we want to see creating better results; we're not going to send those dollars there...And we're counting on the fact that, ultimately, this is an incentive, this is a challenge for people who do want to change." Yep, he wants the scores to go up and he will use blackmail to get them up! Oh, and as a "good" progressive, he doesn't care how they go up. They go up - he looks good. They go down - he looks bad. Honest standards mean nothing! The kiddos mean nothing! The parents mean nothing! It is all about Obama!
I wonder how many trillions we could cut if we completely got rid of the Department of Education? It is a waste of both time and money and an aggravation to teachers, students and parents!
